The Country Club of Waterbury appreciates the permission granted to us by noted artist Michael Heslop for the use of his Donald Ross images throughout our Web site. In addition to his work as an artist, Michael shares our deep respect for the traditions of the game of golf and the work of Donald Ross.
Born in London, Michael Heslop has exhibited and won awards worldwide and is collected by many of the world's leading sportsmen and women. His career spans a period of some forty years, having trained for five years at the Somerset College of Art and Brighton College of Art and Design, England. His work is collected both in the U.S. and throughout the world.
He was Senior Lecturer at Falmouth School of Art and Design, from 1983-1986, before moving to live and work in Stockholm, Sweden for two years as resident artist for Studio Frank. This was followed by representation in New York, by the agent Artco. In the year 2000 he devoted his time solely to painting golfing subjects.
Golf art and Golf is about people — not just the stars of today, but the heroes and legends of yesteryear. Michael's collection brings to life moments in golfing history. As an artist he has an intense interest in technique and the quality of the surface.
Content and style are as important as subject matter. Although his work is realistic and atmospheric, it is also painterly. This is an unusual and sought after combination. Michael has had a number of sell-out exhibtions in the United States.
Having worked to commission only in the past, this new online gallery represents an excellent opportunity to collect Michael's work. In 2007, Michael took up residence in Niagara-on-the-Lake, Ontario, Canada. His works can be viewed and purchased online at http://www.michaelheslop.com
