The 9th hole is Waterbury's only par 5 and the longest hole on the course. The view from this elevated tee is spectacular, especially in the fall. Before teeing off, be certain the group in front of you has cleared the landing area. Center or just left of center will leave an ideal approach, but a tee shot in the fairway is critical for birdie. A large pond factors heavily into your second shot - covering the entire width of the fairway from 70-90 yards before the green.
If your tee shot has reached the flats and affords a clean lie - it's your call, but the green is reachable. Another strategy is to lay-up with a 100-yard chip shot, followed by another into the green from the waters edge. There's a bunker and more water left of the green, so keep it straight. A mound at the front right corner of the green can serve to feed your ball onto the green, or cause the ball to go out-of-bounds. A challenging birdie hole for sure, but if you walk away with par, you might well be satisfied.
